    Services

Herland Sister Resources is committed to serving our community with a variety of services. We always welcome donations of funds and volunteer time so we can continue to provide them. If you feel there is a need we can address, or have an idea for an event, let us know.

The Herland Voice: Our monthly newsletter, the Herland Voice, keeps our community informed about pertinent issues and upcoming activities. The voice is distributed by mail and at select location in the Oklahoma City area, including our bookstore (see below).

Bookstore and Lending Library: Our bookstore and lending library stock a substantial selection of feminist and lesbian fiction and nonfiction books. We also have a variety of music, magazines, buttons, stickers and other community-themed merchandise. The bookstore and lending library, located at 2312 NW 39th, Oklahoma City, are open Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m. You may want to call ahead at (405) 521-9696.

The Herland Legal Defense Fund: The Herland Legal Defense Fund's purpose is to promote lesbian and gay equal rights through the legal system by providing community education, professional education and referrals and direct financial assistance in cases involving lesbian issues within the jurisdiction of Oklahoma. Read the Defense Fund's guidelines. Contact us if you need more information.

    Activities

Herland hosts a number of regularly scheduled events and activities, some of which are listed below. See the events schedule in each issue of the Voice for details.

There are also several social events held during the year, which usually feature musicians, poets, and other artists. Check the Voice or the Events schedule for when those take place.

Board Meeting: Every third Sunday we gather for a board meeting at 4 pm. All womyn are welcome.

Bi-annual Retreats: Weekend retreats featuring workshops, outdoors activities and live entertainment are held each spring and fall at various locations.

Supper Club: The Herland Supper Club meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month, visiting various restaurants in the area. All are welcome. Check the calendar or the current issue of the Voice for this month's location.

Hiking Club: Members and friends get together regularly to explore the great outdoors.

Video Night: Join us for monthly gatherings to watch videos and socialize at Herland.

Scrabble Night: Our newest monthly event is Scrabble Night, where we play board games, eat pizza and socialize.

    Special Projects

In addition to the numerous smaller services we offer, we've been known to kick it up a notch sometimes and really come up with something that deserves the name "special."

Womyn's Music CD: Dustbowl Lullaby, the first CD produced by Herland, features great performances by local artists. Each song was recorded especially for this CD so you can't find them anywhere else. Click on the link above to hear song clips and find out more.
