Services
The Herland Voice
Our monthly newsletter, the Herland Voice, keeps our community informed about pertinent issues and upcoming activities. The voice is distributed by mail and at select location in the Oklahoma City area, including our bookstore (see below).
Bookstore and Lending Library
Our bookstore and lending library stock a substantial selection of feminist and lesbian fiction and nonfiction books. We also have a variety of music, magazines, buttons, stickers and other community-themed merchandise. The bookstore and lending library, located at 2312 NW 39th, Oklahoma City, are open Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m. You may want to call ahead at (405) 521-9696.
The Herland Legal Defense Fund
The Herland Legal Defense Fund's purpose is to promote lesbian and ga y equal rights through the legal system by providing community education, professional education and referrals and direct financial assistance in cases involving lesbian issues within the jurisdiction of Oklahoma. Read the Defense Fund's guidelines. Contact us if you need more information.
Activities
Supper Club: Herland Supper Clubs are held the second Saturday of each month at 5:30 pm. We meet at various restaurants throughout Oklahoma City and occasionally surrounding towns. Check the Voice for the location of the next Supper Club.
Video Night: Herland shows videos of special interest to our community at various times throughout the year. Check the Voice for the next Video Night.
Scrabble Day: Herland scrabble games are played one Saturday per month at 2:00 pm. All levels are welcome, from beginners to advanced. Check the Voice for the next Scrabble Day.
Coffeehouses: Herland coffeehouses are typically scheduled one Saturday evening per month during the winter months. Featured performers are musicians and poets. Check the Voice for the next coffehouse.
Board Meetings: Herland Board Meetings are held the third Sunday of each month at 4:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend and give your ideas.
