who’s ready for a retreat?!?

retreat1.gifAs you may have heard, this year’s Spring Retreat will be at Roman Nose State Park, May 16 – 18.  The retreat lasts from 5pm Friday until noon on Sunday.  Your registration includes lodging in a cabin for Friday and Saturday nights, a light dinner on Friday, scrumptious breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday mornings, Saturday night Potluck Dinner (bring or plan on making your favorite culinary dish to share), all workshops and group camp activities, and the Saturday night concert.
The concert will feature the band Covert Union, with members Peggy Johnson, Wendy Allyn, and Nancy Nesser.  The band is planning to play their first set in the main dining hall, and take the second set to the campfire, where they will play a more intimate set, with some requested favorites.
This retreat promises to be extra special, with several awesome and highly-accredited women stepping up to lead workshops, including Green Earth Spirituality, Self Esteem & Body Image, a Nature Walk, and a Vigorous Hike!
You are encouraged to bring any sporting equipment, games or crafts, that you would like to share with others.  The greatest thing about the retreat is that you can do as few or as many of the planned activities as you choose.
In addition to all the Herland Retreat activities, the state park offers horseback riding and a golf course (additional fees), biking trails, two lakes for fishing, and lots of nature to explore.  With so many fun activities planned, and time to just relax if that’s what you need, we hope you’ll come for the entire weekend.  If the entire weekend is not possible, consider coming for the day Saturday, or even for the concert.  We will start the concert a little earlier (7:30pm) for those heading home afterwards.
If you haven’t already, please send in your registration.  It is very helpful for planning and buying food when you pre-register.  Also – you get a free raffle ticket just for pre-registering!  After we receive your registration, we will mail you a packet which has the retreat schedule, a list of things you may want to bring, details about the weekend, and a map to Roman Nose State Park.  If you have any questions, please call Herland at (405) 521-9696.  Leave a message and someone will call you back.

paseo art walk & supper club

On Saturday, May 3rd, the Herland Supper Club takes a different turn.  First, we will meet at Sauced, 2912 Paseo, at 3:30 pm.  (There’s usually lots of on-street parking there at the south end of the Paseo.)  Then we’ll take a stroll up and down the Paseo, stopping at the art galleries along the way.  The Paseo gallery walk is held on the first Friday and Saturday of every month. Over 60 artists in more than 17 galleries participate, all within walking distance.
After the art walk, we’ll eat dinner at Galileo, 3009 Paseo, at 5:30 pm.  Galileo Restaurant and bar offers a wide variety of tasty foods, live music, and a display of local artists’ work.  The weather should be great, so join us for this fun outing!

get ready for weekend getaway roman nose state park may 16-18

The retreat starts at 5pm Friday, and continues until Sunday at noon.
The weekend traditionally consists of visiting with old friends, meeting new friends, nature walks, outside sports, inside games, relaxing, crafts, laughter, music, campfires, shopping, great food, and many other activities.  The greatest part is - the retreat can be anything you want it to be!
The Saturday evening concert promises to be a special one.  A “new” band, consisting of “old” favorite musicians, will be entertaining us with their collective talent.  The band, Covert Union, consists of Peggy Johnson, Wendy Allyn, and Nancy Nesser.  They will perform their concert in the dining hall, and then play the second set at the fire, where we can request old favorites, and sing-along.
Group camp accommodations include rustic group cabins with bunk beds, a group bath house with restrooms and hot showers, and a meeting hall and kitchen with a commercial refrigerator.  If tent camping is your thing… there is lots of room to set up camp.  Meals include a light Friday night supper, Saturday breakfast, Saturday evening potluck (be thinking about what you want to bring to share), and Sunday morning breakfast.  Herland will have pop, water, and snacks for sale, or you can bring your own.
It is a big help in planning if you pre-register with the registration form above.  Please fill out the information and mail it with payment, back to Herland - postmarked by May 8th.  You will then receive a packet in the mail confirming your registration, with a map,  a “to bring” list, and a special treat - A Free Raffle Ticket – just for pre-registering!  We hope you’ll all be able to stay for the entire weekend, but if time is limited, you can still register to come for the day on Saturday, or even just for the concert.  If need be, you can even register when you get to the camp.  We’re looking forward to seeing you all there!
