special election
Oklahoma County Commissioner Jim Roth was recently appointed to the State Corporation Commission by Governor Brad Henry. A special election is being held to fill Roth’s position for the remainder of the 4-year term. (Roth was the first openly gay person to be elected to office in Oklahoma.) In what is proving to be a very interesting election, numerous folks, including several veteran politicians, are vying to fill the spot. The list includes Debbie Blackburn, Willa Johnson, and Ann Simank for the Democrats and Forrest Claunch for the Republicans. Remember to vote in the primaries on Tuesday, August 14, and the general election on Tuesday, September 11.
