rain.jpg
May Music Fest 2004 7 pm, Saturday, May 8th at the historic Oklahoma City Farmer’s Market, 311 S. Klein, featuring Wendy Woo, Shelly Phelps, and Pinkie and the Snakeshakers.

RAIN and CarePoint have come together again to host an event that benefits people living with HIV/AIDS across the Western region of our state.

RAIN-Oklahoma provides unique, volunteer-based services that are not duplicated in any other program in the state. In addition to training volunteers to provide non-medical, practical support, RAIN works within all types of community groups to reduce the stigma of AIDS through education. In 2002, RAIN served 205 people through 400+ volunteers.

CarePoint is a primary point of entry into Oklahoma’s HIV service delivery system. HIV positive persons living in the 405 and 580 area codes are eligible for their services. These include case management, homeless outreach, education, housing assistance, medication management and testing and counseling. In addition, CarePoint offers peer support and HIV+ prevention case management.

For tickets or more information, contact Jean Ann Van Krevelen, Executive Director RAIN-Oklahoma, at www.rainoklahoma.org or 405-947-3434.

And on Friday, April 9, from 6 to 9 pm, shop for your spring garden at Precure Garden Center, 4535 NW 63rd Street - to benefit RAIN Oklahoma. A portion of proceeds from the sale will be donated to RAIN to support their services for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Free Workshop: Acupuncture and Traditional Eastern Medicine

Free workshop “Acupuncture and Traditional Eastern Medicine in the 21st Century”

As Americans look for alternatives to medications and expensive healthcare, Acupuncture, the ancient form of healing, has taken on new popularity in modern society. There are a variety of illnesses and ailments which can be treated with acupuncture including stress, depression, insomnia, muscular pain, sports injuries and arthritis.

Have you wondered what the needles look like, does it hurt, how does it work and will it work for you?

Massage therapy is becoming more common as people begin to understand the general health benefits reaped by it both physically and mentally. Massage has been shown to relieve and reduce stress, depression, anxiety, tension, back pain, headache and some chronic pain and repetitive stress injuries. How to pick a good massage therapist and how can massage therapy benefit you?

To help answer your questions and to learn more about these ancient forms of treatment Kevin Gardner Singleton, B.S., M.S., DIPL., (ACU/CH) and the Wellness Project is offering a complementary workshop on Acupuncture and Traditional Eastern Medicine in the 21st Century. For confidential questions relating to personal healthcare, a private 30-minute complementary consultation on Acupuncture and this ancient form of Eastern medicine may be scheduled. To reserve seating for one of the workshops, make an appointment, or to get information on workshop dates and times call 840-3331. The Wellness Project is located at 5500 N. Western, Suite 214, Oklahoma City.
